If you would like to transfer your existing site to SITEWAREHOUSE we make it EASY. Simply select a plan in U.S. or Canadian funds and our step by step process will walk you through. There is an option to select 'transfer your domain name' on the setup and you enter your domain name. This will make the entry in our NAME SERVERS and setup your folder on our servers instantly and automatically.

For hosting a web site there are two important aspects. The first is the domain name and the second is the actual hosting account, which is a folder on a server that is connected to the web. You can have a domain name without a hosting account and visa-versa.

When you look up domain names and searches in your browser, the search engines are sending requests to "name servers" to find out where the domain resides, on which domain server. When you get a domain name, you enter the hosting company DNS information which populates the DNS server of the domain name telling requests what folder on the server to direct them to. Name servers can direct these requests for information to the proper web folder that DNS servers control.

Transferring your site.

1. When you purchased your domain name you should have received a web address and login to manage the settings . All you need to do is change the DNS settings in your domain name to point to our Name Servers. This record is stored in the master whois database so users that seek to go to your address will be directed based on this information. This database is updated daily and changes sometimes take a few days to re-point your domain.

If you are Canada or International:
change your DNS settings to point to:

Primary - NS1. SITEWAREHOUSE.COM
Secondary -NS2. SITEWAREHOUSE.COM

If you are Signing up for a U.S. account: change your DNS settings to point to:

Primary - NS1. SITEWAREHOUSE.US
Secondary -NS2. SITEWAREHOUSE.US

If you did not receive a web based control panel login from your domain name provider, you should make sure you have one. You can change the name to manage through our services (Change REGISTRAR) to help you in the future. This can be accessed in the interface. If you did not receive this web based access, contact the company and ask them to make the change for you. They probably gave themselves the access instead of passing it on to you.

You can check the whois data base to confirm the REGISTRAR and NAME SERVERS your name is currently pointed to here within the WHOIS. Please make sure your name and current e-mail address is on the listing as administrative and billing contact, not the company that booked your domain name.

Changes in re-pointing your domain name to different Domain Name Servers normally takes from 24 to 72 hours to propagate through the Internet. We do provide a temporary url to access your web site should you like to upload files immediately. If you require assistance transferring your site, please contact us for a quotation.

Please Note: Due to legal reasons, we will not be able to participate in any changes to your domain name records to a third party or be able to address ethical and/or legal disputes regarding control of your domain name. Although, with our control panel you will have the ability to manage your domain name through a friendly browser based interface.
